First Quarter: Personal Narratives and Realistic Fiction
We will start out the year working on personal narratives and realistic fiction. A personal narrative is a story about a small moment in your life, written in first person. This means you are the main character. Realistic fiction is an imagined story that could really happen. Typically the story is told in third person and is centered around a character struggle. . Grades will be given based on the following criteria:
*Uses descriptive details and clear events to develop a real experience
*Uses dialogue and description to develop experiences and/or show charter responses. Dialogue should be punctuated correctly.
*Uses a variety of transitional words and phrases.
*Uses concrete words and phrases and sensory details to convey experiences.
*Provides a conclusion that follows from the narrated experiences or events.
* Develops and strengthens writing as needed by planning, revising and editing.
