Homework
Language Arts
Read 20 minutes each night. Students may choose to do Achieve 3000 in place of their reading. They are required to do 2 Achieve quizzes per week. These can be done in class as well.
Math
Students will have daily math assignment, Monday through Thursday. Most days will be a worksheet found in their Communication Folder. Occasionally it will be something to complete online. Check our website for daily homework assignments.
Communication Folder
Your child has a folder that they take with them everywhere. This will house their homework and other important information. On Friday, important papers from school will be sent home in this folder. Please check your child’s folder over the weekend and return on Monday.
Treasure Cards
Your child brought home 5 Treasure Cards to sell for the PTA. Money raised will be used to improve our field conditions. Each card costs $20 and can save you tons of money at area businesses. Your child needs to return any unsold books. Contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Jacket
Some of our classrooms are cold, your child is welcome to bring a light jacket to wear.
Achieve3000
On Friday your child brought the following letter with individualized parent login info. Their login is their google user name (for most kids their first & middle initials & last name) and password is wcp lunch number (no spaces). The paper also had a parent security code.

40 Book Challenge
You can We are starting our 40 Book Challenge today! We are challenging your child to read 40 books by the end of the school year. We know they can do it! To make this more manageable and to encourage everyone to participate, we are breaking this down into 10 books for each quarter. Easy right? Each quarter students will be given a list of genres and number of books for each genre that they must read. We will have a celebration at the end of each quarter for all that successfully completed the challenge each quarter. The Rules: Each book must be read by your child during the current quarter. Books read in class count in their book total.Your student should read at least 30 minutes each day.Your student must use the Book Challenge reading log to make genre choices. The book must be a ‘Good Fit Book’ as discussed in class. This will ensure the the book is an appropriate reading level for your student. If your student does not participate this quarter and decides to join in a following quarter, he or she may do so. The goal is to motivate more reading! There will be celebrations for participating students at the end of each quarter. The purpose of this challenge is to get your child reading books they might not normally choose and to increase their love of reading. The other objective of this challenge is to add rigor to our reading program.
