Enjoy reading! 2016-2017 Transportation Information Transportation is working with Communications and Technology Services to prepare for the new school year. Working together, we want to communicate our practices in a positive and consistent manner. Here are the updates for 2016-17 school year: · Postcards will be mailed to families starting on May 20, 2016. These cards will communicate the information that we have in our routing program. Here’s what we are saying to eligible riders for the 2016-2017 school year: - You need take no action if the information provided is correct for the 2016-17 school year. - Please go online to www.wcpss.net/busrider if you need to update your bus service needs. We will also be calling families via SchoolMessenger and using social media to communicate with our customers. · Beginning on May 23, 2016, the Internet form associated with the web page Bus Rider Registration will transition to receive requests from transportation eligible families (neighborhood or express bus service based on the student’s address of record with Wake County) for the 2016-17 school year only. ***Transportation eligible families who need to make changes are requested to meet the following deadlines to ensure service on the first day of school*** July 25 for Traditional calendar schools Requests received (for eligible riders) after these cutoff dates will be processed in the order received and WCPSS Transportation will make every effort to provide service as quickly as possible. The Internet form associated with Questions and Concerns will remain available to families as well as the Transportation customer service phone line, (919) 805-3030. Don’t forget student led conferences are Monday & Wednesday next week. *Students will have practiced this, so they will know exactly what to do. *There will be multiple sets of students and parents in the room at one time. *This should take about 20 minutes. *This is optional, but encouraged. To sign up for a conference for Calhoun/Foster/Galecki click here or Brooks/George/Galecki click here. As we are nearing the end of the year, we are in need of Lysol wipes and Tissues! If you could donate anything we would be so appreciative! We will also take any trinkets you have to use in our End of Year Auction! EOG Breakfast On Thursday, June 2nd the school will provide breakfast for all 4th grade students for the 1st day of EOGs. We are asking for donations of granola bars for breakfast on Friday, June 3rd. Our hope is to be able to provide a healthy breakfast for all students both mornings. Thanks in advance for your donations. End of Year Rewards It is important that the students remain focused as we bring our year to a close and review for the End of Grade Tests. In order to help keep the students focused we have come up with end of the year rewards. The students will work both as a class and as individuals to earn these rewards. Each student will be able to earn 6 dojo points each day. 2 points for being on task, 2 points for following classroom procedures/rules and 2 points for being organized. If students are not meeting these requirements they will lose points. In order for students to be a part of the end of year rewards they will need to earn at least 70 points by June 3. Instead of a normal parent-teacher conference on Monday 5/16 & Wednesday 5/18, we want the students to show off their work in a student-led conference! Students will take you to their Math and Literacy classrooms and guide you through what they have been working on recently. When you have finished your student-led conference, you are more than welcome to check in with your child's teacher. Achieve homework must be completed by THURSDAY evenings by 10:00 pm. Students who pass 15 articles during the month of April will win a coupon for a free personal pan pizza. EOGs HELP! We are in need of proctors for EOGs from 9:20 - 12:30 May 26-June 6. PLEASE consider volunteering. If you can help, please email your child’s teacher or Jen Giandenoto (the testing coordinator) [email protected]. DOJO Auction The students have worked very hard earning DOJO points the first semester. We will have our auction on June 9th. Students will be able to use their points to “bid” on items donated. If you have any items you can donate that would be great. Items may include games, books, candy etc that the students may like or items they may purchase as gifts for others (calendars, note pads, lotions, etc). Items may be purchased at the dollar store or other discount stores, or may be things you have around your house that are new or gently used. Thanks so much for your help with this project.
