Interim reports. Interim reports are in Friday folders today. This is one piece of data on your child’s progress this year. Please be aware that some of the standards are still being assessed therefore grades could possibly change by the report card distribution date.
Spelling. Exciting News! Our class will be using VocabularySpellingCity for word study. VocabularySpellingCity is an educational website and app that allows students to practice their spelling and vocabulary words through engaging activities. Access VocabularySpellingCity online at https://www.spellingcity.com or by downloading the SpellingCity app from iTunes, the Google Play Store or the Amazon Appstore.
To help your child log in on the computer, please go to https://www.spellingcity.com, or open the app and click the blue Login button at the top of the page. Enter the username and password exactly as provided below, under Student Login on the web or after selecting Student on the app:
Username: lunch number (ie: 11111)
Password: lunch number (ie: 11111)
Once logged in, the students will have access to our class' word lists, plus any assignments that have been created. Assignments will appear in a green box near the top of the page.
On the web, students select a list by clicking on the list name. They can then complete the Spelling TeachMe activity by clicking each word on the list, select the Play A Game button to practice their words using any of VocabularySpellingCity's activities, select FlashCards to practice their words, or select the Spelling Test or Vocab Test button to quiz themselves on their words and help them prepare for any upcoming tests. On the app, students can select any word list, then select an activity to practice their words.
Please be sure that every time your child accesses VocabularySpellingCity, he or she is properly logged in and completes each game or activity to ensure that the activity is recorded and credited. If there are assignments for your child, he or she MUST complete the assigned activities by clicking the links within the green box to have the assignments marked as "complete." To view your child's progress, select My Records from the menu in the upper right-hand corner of the web page or See Records from the menu on the app when your child is logged in.
VocabularySpellingCity's activities and games make word study fun while helping students build confidence and learn independently. Working as a team will go a long way toward guiding our students to academic success and ensure they become lifelong learners.
Fourth Grade ELA Service Project. Thanks to all who ordered Scholastic Books this month. We were able to purchase enough books for each fourth grader to wrap and donate two books. The students will be wrapping the books and making cards for the children at UNC hospital on Thursday, December 17th. Donations of wrapping paper would be greatly appreciated.
DOJO Auction. The students have worked very hard earning DOJO points the first semester. We will have our first auction on December 18th. Students will be able to use their points to “bid” on items donated. If you have any items you can donate that would be great. Items may include games, books, candy etc that the students may like or items they may purchase as gifts for others (calendars, note pads, lotions, etc) . Items may be purchased at the dollar store or other discount stores, or may be things you have around your house that are new or gently used. Thanks so much for your help with this project.
UPCOMING DATES:
